The Postharvest Education Foundation

Cooperative Ventures is a consulting and marketing firm, owned by Lisa Kitinoja, which focuses on capacity building (consulting, advisory, training and mentoring services) in the field of postharvest technology for agricultural and horticultural crops.

Cooperative Ventures is involved in two major business activities:

1) provides advisory services on contract to a wide range of global development organizations and international agricultural projects and programs

2) promotes and markets a variety of jewelry items and gemstone beaded gifts made from beads and findings imported from various regions of the world, with the intention of supporting the work of indigenous crafts-people and artisans.

The international programs we are involved in aim to:
Help small horticultural farmers increase incomes by reducing postharvest losses and food waste

Train young professionals in developing countries as postharvest technical specialists

Develop e-learning programs in postharvest technology

Mentor young professionals as they develop and practice new extension education skills

Dr. Lisa Kitinoja is the owner of Cooperative Ventures and for 20 years owned and operated a horticultural consulting firm (Extension Systems International). She is semi-retired now and volunteers her time serving as Chair of The Postharvest Education Foundation.
